De Quincey Co offers Block-3 BodyWeather Classes

Keep warm and toasty with Block-3 weekly BodyWeather Classes starting 19 June – book your place now! BodyWeather is not just for dancers, but is for those who simply want to explore the body. Beginners and non-performers are welcome!

BodyWeather is a movement practice that fuses contemporary and ancient knowledge from both the East and the West. Exploring sensation and imagination, a range of playful exercises develop creativity, sensitivity and insight. Different energies and ways of moving – from fast and dynamic to slow and meditative – enable discovery of the body as an environment interconnecting with the greater environment.

Join De Quincey Co in Sydney’s beautiful Brand-X dance hub, and as we find our feet in this new era, plunge into and explore change by sharing space together – riding on each other’s energy waves and learning from exchanging observations.

Newcomers and experienced dancers alike can uncover new body-mind interconnections as the training enables each person to explore their growing edge in exchange with others. Beginners can easily join and be introduced to the foundational elements that make the training so powerful.

BodyWeather is a broadbased training that proposes a practical strategy to the mind and to the body. It is not just for ‘professional dancers’ or ‘performance practitioners’ alone but is an open investigation that can be relevant for anyone interested in exploring the body.

The term and philosophical basis for BodyWeather was founded by butoh dancer Min Tanaka and his Mai-Juku performance group, Japan. Drawing from both eastern and western dance, sports training, martial arts and theatre practice, it a ground training that develops a conscious relation devoid of any specific aesthetic.

As a former dancer with Mai-Juku 1985-91, Tess de Quincey introduced the BodyWeather philosophy and methodology into Australia in 1989. BodyWeather is the basis of her practice as a performer and choreographer.

Classes will run weekly from 19 June through 24 July from 7-9 pm at ESAC – East Sydney Community and Arts Centre, Darlinghurst. They will be led by either Tess de Quincey, Victoria Hunt or Linda Luke.

Cost is $28 for a single class or $95 for all six classes. Tickets for the full block or for individual classes can only be purchased via HUMANITIX HERE  Tickets are NOT transferable between blocks. For more informationcontact info@dequinceyco.net
