Tracks Dance Company presents New Light, a choreographic response to the Archie 100
Archie 100 is a national touring exhibition showcasing a hundred portraits from a century of the Archibald Prize. In an exciting partnership with MAGNT, Tracks presents New Light, a choreographic response to 100 years of Australian portraiture.
A bold and collaborative partnership between Tracks Dance Company and the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory is set to enliven both inside and outside spaces in and around the gallery precinct. 8 Northern Territory choreographers have been chosen to create short works in response to the Archies 100 exhibition. They come from diverse ages, training, and cultural backgrounds. Be prepared to see the Museum and Art Gallery in a New Light as you promenade through both backstage and public areas, seeing dance performances in unusual placements.
The 8 NT choreographers who will be presenting work as part of Tracks’ New Light performance include Gary Lang, Kelly Beneforti, Spillett, Rachel Wallis, Kate Mornane, Venaska Cheliah, David McMicken and Jess Devereux.
New Light will run for 3 shows only! Performances are on 22, 23, & 24 June from 6-7 pm at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory. Tickets are $25 or $15 for concession. Click here to purchase tickets.
There will also be an Artist Talk on 17 June from 11 am – 12 pm. Artist talk with some of the choreographers and MAGNT curator Bryony Nainby. This talk explores how Tracks curates a live performance as well as the exhibition, and how this might enhance audiences and visitors to engage both intellectually and viscerally with the art. Admission is free, but bookings are essential. Click here to book.
Tracks strongly recommends you see the Archie 100: A Century of the Archibald Prize exhibition and attend the artists talk prior to attending this performance.
