The Mill celebrates 10 years of artistry and innovation
The Mill celebrates 10 years at its iconic Angas Street location, marking a decade of fostering artistic collaboration and enriching experiences for South Australia.
While the birthday celebrations will centre around this incredible milestone for the not-for-profit organisation, it will also celebrate The Mill’s recent expansion – taking over the space previously tenanted by Patch Theatre.
This expansion has seen an additional 17 affordable artist studios added to The Mill’s community and Adelaide CBD.
“While we are expanding on our home turf, we have dedicated the past 2 years to building relationships and gathering support for a visionary new cultural precinct, and long-term home for The Mill. Our exciting vision continues to develop and will come to life in the next 1-3 years,” says The Mill CEO / Artistic Director Katrina Lazaroff.
Established in 2013 by co-founders Amber Cronin and Erin Fowler, The Mill firmly established itself as a force in the artistic landscape – showcasing a diverse range of disciplines including visual arts, performing arts, music, literature and more. From its inception, The Mill held an unwavering commitment to supporting emerging talent, facilitating cross-disciplinary collaborations and engaging with communities.
In mid-2018, the co-founders passed the leadership of the organisation to CEO / Artistic Director Katrina Lazaroff, who continues to nurture and grow The Mill’s commitment to supporting South Australian artists with artistic opportunities and affordable studio space.
“I continue to be stimulated and challenged by the breadth of work we undertake at The Mill and I thank our founders, our artistic community, partners and stakeholders for their contributions to our programs. Together we have created a wonderful and thriving breeding ground for the arts in Adelaide and South Australia, that I am incredibly proud to be dedicated to,” says Lazaroff.
The 10th birthday celebration will take place Friday, June 16, 5:30pm-7:30pm at The Mill Exhibition Space (154 Angas St, Kaurna Yarta). Admission is free. Click here to RSVP.
