The Goddesses will Descend on Melbourne

The Chronicles of Olympus and Breeze Entertainment proudly present The Goddesses – a theatrical journey into Greek mythology featuring Australia’s most dynamic dancers, singers and acrobats. The Goddesses tells the foundation story of the ancient Greek goddesses through dance, music and stunning acrobatics. It’s Greek mythology like you’ve never seen before, taking you on a theatrical journey through Mount Olympus where you get introduced to each of the female deities. This original, Melbourne-made show puts commercial dance in the spotlight, highlighting the casts’ versatility in a range of dance styles from ballet to hip hop and contemporary. It’s an opportunity for Australian audiences to experience commercial dance on an epic scale usually only found in Las Vegas or on television. With the devastating impact of COVID-19 on the live entertainment industry, Melbourne-based creator Bree Kent has moved heaven and earth to bring this show to life. With her regular commercial dance and choreographic work on hold indefinitely, Kent channelled her creative energy into writing, producing and choreographing The Goddesses. The show is inspired by Kent’s Greek heritage and driven by her passion for supporting other dancers to build a professional career in Australia. She is enormously proud that The Goddesses generates meaningful work and new opportunities for an industry that has struggled so much over the past two years. It has been a dream of Bree’s to produce this show that has been locked up in a vault in her brain for many years. Finally, the time has come to bring her vision to life. Bree lives, breathes and bleeds the world of dance, and creates opportunities for the amazing talent in Melbourne and Australia. Bree was given the gift of touching her audience on a level not reached by many dancers. Her humble and understated nature combined with this limitless and unique style immediately draws audiences in. Bree has worked as a professional dancer for 19 years, starting her own entertainment company seven years ago, Breeze Entertainment. She is highly respected as a dancer and choreographer by her peers and international stars in the entertainment industry. In addition, Bree is known as an advocate in the industry for creating opportunities for her dance community and fighting for their rights to be paid correctly and have safe working environments. The Goddesses’ all-female cast features 13 of Australia’s most talented entertainers including international vocalist and former contestant on The Voice Australia, Cassie Mciver as Gaia, Mother Earth; professional dancer from Dancing with the Stars Australia Alexandra Vladimirov as Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth; commercial dancer and model Bianca Dimattina as Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, Beauty and Sexual Pleasure; international award-winning cellist Steph Stamopoulos as Styx, a deity and river that forms the boundary between Earth and the Underworld; and aerialist, circus artist and dancer Aleisha Manion as Athena, Goddess of Wisdom and War and Selene, Goddess of the Moon. Performances will take place February 3-6 at Meat Market’s Cobblestone Pavilion. Tickets for The Goddesses Melbourne premiere begin at $80. For more information visit www.thegoddesses.com.au
