Sydney Dance Company Offers Open Day 2022

Sydney Dance Company will offer an Open Day on Saturday 28 May at their Wharf Studios! Dance is for everyone, always! Don’t miss out on their free taster classes and workshops, huge discounts and fun giveaways. The festivities begin at 9 am and continue until 4 pm.

If you’ve never tried a dance class at the Wharf Studios, or you want to change it up and try a new style you will want to try Sydney Dance Company’s taster classes! Free, 45-minute beginner-friendly classes in a range of styles including: Tap, Theatre Jazz, Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip Hop.  

Sydney Dance Company’s new Conditioning Studio Manager, Felicity, is offering free 10-minute postural assessments in their state-of-the-art Conditioning Studio!

As a trained Pilates instructor and former professional ballerina, Felicity works directly with Sydney Dance Company’s professional ensemble and Pre-Professional Year dancers. In your free sessions, you will experience a hands-on postural assessment, as well as an exercise or two based on the assessment. It’s the perfect taste of what the new Pilates Sessions include!

If you are unable to book into a postural assessment, Sydney Dance Company’s Head of Training Linda Gamblin will be providing 15-minute tours of the Conditioning Studio. She will guide you through the space and be able to answer any questions you may have about Pilates and training opportunities at Sydney Dance Company! 

Finally, if you are a young aspiring dancer or parent interested in learning more about training opportunities, don’t miss the Pre-Professional Year Workshop and Q&A session from 1pm – 1:45pm! 

With Linda Gamblin, Sydney Dance Company’s Head of Training, at the helm, the Pre-Professional Year is designed as a one, or two-year program providing both unparalleled industry experience and a vocational qualification.

At Open Day, you’ll take an improvisation class with Sydney Dance Company’s Pre-Professional Year Course Coordinator Omer Backley-Astrachan, to delve deeper into your contemporary practice. Afterwards, join Omer and Linda, and Sydney Dance Company Training Associate Juliette Barton, for an in-depth Q&A session where you will learn about the program and can ask questions.
