Sprung Dance Theatre’s 2024 Program
2024 is going to be jam-packed and exciting for Sprung Dance Theatre!
Term-based programs are back! Love to perform? – Join Story Builders in Bangalow on Wednesdays. Looking to build dance and movement skills? – Join Movement Makers in Lismore on Thursdays. Need something more casual? – Join our fun-filled weekends every month at Tintenbar Open Doors.
New programs launching next term! – Art Shapers at the Tweed Regional Gallery (explore dance, movement and visual arts inside the gallery!), and Kingscliff Open Doors for those a little further north wanting to move, groove and connect.
Next level Holiday Workshops Unlocked! That’s right, check out the full details below, and book now before they fill up!
From April 16-19 at Tintenbar Hall, become a Suburban Superhero! What’s your superpower? Led by neurodivergent artist Sarah Lewis (Lewis), this workshop program focuses on costume design and character development – exploring ideas of everyday superheroes. Portraits taken from this workshop will be showcased at an exhibition at the Northern Rivers Community Art Gallery (NRCG) later this year. Book here.
Starting on May 7 – Tuesday nights from 6-7 pm, join an 8 week online program: Auslan Choir. Want to make new friends and belt out a fun song in Auslan? Come explore the world of Auslan Choir! Connect with community, and learn and practice Auslan (the Australian Sign Language of the Deaf community) through the expressive art of sign-singing. Led by Deaf creative Tallula Bourne and supported by Auslan performer/interpreter Alison Toft, expect to tap into your inner superstar as you express yourself within the magic of a 3D visual language. Book here.
Where electronic music and dance collide, join Sprung for House of Groove – where bodies initiate movement as they bounce off sound. Led by dance artist Paul/Moonshine Walker, let go of your inhibitions as you learn improvisation techniques and use play as a tool to discover new moves. House of Groove runs July 9-12 at Tintenbar Hall. Book here.
Get your grooves ready, Sprung is heading back on the dance floor for the ultimate inclusive dance party! Join them for their annual Disability Community Ball (Dis-Co Ball) where every body and ability is welcome to shake it, break it and strut it on and off the stage. Dis-Co Ball brings together artists from across Sprung’s programs to perform and lead us in a celebration of difference. This year’s Dis-Co Ball will be on November 23. Bookings will open soon.
