Save the date! World Ballet Day returns November 1

The Australian Ballet, The Royal Ballet and San Francisco Ballet are delighted to invite you to experience the 10th anniversary of World Ballet Day on Wednesday November 1, 2023. World Ballet Day returns for its tenth year, giving you an insider’s view into dance companies around the globe.

The event, livestreamed for free, connects ballet companies from across six continents to share their love for this spectacular artform with global audiences. The Australian Ballet will be opening the virtual doors to their studios from 10.30am – 1.30pm AEDT in a continuous livestream that gives you exclusive insight into the life of an elite dancer.

Throughout the day, you’ll be taken behind the scenes into company rehearsals and enjoy exclusive interviews with The Australian Ballet dancers and artistic team.

Hosted by Livinia Nixon and The Australian Ballet Senior Artist, Jarryd Madden, the 3-hour event will stream live from Melbourne. Watch as the dancers prepare for the day with morning class and rehearse pieces from Swan Lake and The Dream / Marguerite and Armand. The Artistic Health Team will present a segment on maintaining the health and wellbeing of Australian Ballet artists, and Artistic Director David Hallberg will offer insights on his creative vision while unpacking Season 2024 with our hosts.

“For 10 years, World Ballet Day has provided the opportunity to see the beauty of the ballet expressed through the intimate lens of a camera. It’s a thrill to virtually open our doors once again to share the fantastic work and dedication of our dancers,” shares David Hallberg.
