Book now for Sprung’s Summer Holiday Workshop: Rivers’ Stories

Connect with place and First Nations Culture through story and movement on the banks of the Fishery Creek through Sprung Dance Theatre’s Rivers’ Stories Workshop.

Like the water flowing in and out of the river, Summer moves on its own time. Join Sprung as they move their bodies to the sounds of a dreamy summer soundscape where time seems to ebb and flow like the tides of the River. Bodies tangle, sway, laze and dip, movements inspired by what we observe in nature, on Country and in our bodies.

Rivers’ Stories is an inclusive and accessible workshop bringing First Nations contemporary culture and disability culture together, drawing on the yarns of Bundjalung Elder Julia Paden and led by local First Nations artists Mitch King (Yaegl/Bundjalung) and Jade Dewi Tyas Tunggal (Aust/Java).

This four day workshop includes sound and movement making, to explore story, memory and joy connected to water, summer and time. Expect to feel into and move your body, listen to Country, and explore sensations of sand and water.

This workshop is open to people with and without disability. All are welcome to join!

Rivers’ Stories takes place Wednesday 10 – Saturday 13 January from 10 am – 4 pm daily at Balina Scout Hall, 33 Canal Rd, Ballina NSW. Please contact info@sprung.org.au or 0478 879 706 with any queries.
