Yellow Wheel 2014 Company AuditionsYellow Wheel will hold two three-hour company auditions on Sunday, February 9 and Tuesday, February 11 at Lucy Guerin Inc. in West Melbourne. Auditions will include contemporary technique class followed by some improvisational and choreographic tasks.

 

A collection of young dancers who are set on pursuing a career in dance, Yellow Wheel offers members the opportunity to be part of an ensemble for an entire year, rehearsing on Tuesday nights and most Sundays and working on a number of key projects.

 

Company projects include: the White Night Festival, where dancers perform and teach 70’s disco in front of thousands at Fed Square; The Australian Youth Dance Festival, where dancers perform and participate in workshops with like-minded young people from all over the country; SHOWROOM, an opportunity for company members to make their own dance work; It’s A Dance Project, a special program where dancers must make a show in a day and perform it that night; the company’s major season, featuring new works by choreographers Jo Lloyd, Joshua Lowe and other special guests; and It Sounds Silly Remake in partnership with Chunky Move and Frankston Performing Arts Centre.

 

Yellow Wheel dancers come from a vast range of schools, universities and institutions, all with the common goal of being part of a collaborative, creative process with an emphasis on producing high-grade dance works. To become a company member, all dancers must audition. 2014 auditions are scheduled for February 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and
Tuesday, February 11 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Lucy Guerin Inc, located at 28 Batman St., West Melbourne.
