Yellow Wheel 2014 Company Auditions
Yellow Wheel will hold two three-hour company auditions on Sunday, February 9 and Tuesday, February 11 at Lucy Guerin Inc. in West Melbourne. Auditions will include contemporary technique class followed by some improvisational and choreographic tasks.
A collection of young dancers who are set on pursuing a career in dance, Yellow Wheel offers members the opportunity to be part of an ensemble for an entire year, rehearsing on Tuesday nights and most Sundays and working on a number of key projects.
Company projects include: the White Night Festival, where dancers perform and teach 70’s disco in front of thousands at Fed Square; The Australian Youth Dance Festival, where dancers perform and participate in workshops with like-minded young people from all over the country; SHOWROOM, an opportunity for company members to make their own dance work; It’s A Dance Project, a special program where dancers must make a show in a day and perform it that night; the company’s major season, featuring new works by choreographers Jo Lloyd, Joshua Lowe and other special guests; and It Sounds Silly Remake in partnership with Chunky Move and Frankston Performing Arts Centre.
Yellow Wheel dancers come from a vast range of schools, universities and institutions, all with the common goal of being part of a collaborative, creative process with an emphasis on producing high-grade dance works. To become a company member, all dancers must audition. 2014 auditions are scheduled for February 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesday, February 11 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Lucy Guerin Inc, located at 28 Batman St., West Melbourne.
To attend the audition, dancers must be 14 years old or older. Auditionees must complete the registration form at www.yellowwheel.com.au. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Producer Joshua Lowe at josh@yellowwheel.com.au.
