Terry Simpson Studios offers individual coaching programme
Terry Simpson Studios, established in 1980, is Adelaide’s premier dance studios for ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, hip-hop and full-time Vocational Training. Auditions for 2017 intake to the Full-Time Vocational Individual Coaching Programme are currently being scheduled.
The full-time training is meant to be done in conjunction with external academic studies. As an audition-only program, it provides students with an intensive and specialised foundation on which to build careers in professional dance, dance teaching and allied dance fields. Many graduates have progressed through tertiary dance programs and been accepted into dance schools and dance companies interstate and overseas.
Students will receive RAD vocational exam coaching, including solo seal. They’ll take advanced classical and contemporary dance classes, plus pas de deux, Pilates, repertoire and pointe. Specialised male coaching is offered, as well as competition and audition preparation.
Teachers include School Principal and RAD Examiner/Mentor Terry Simpson, Queensland Ballet’s Janet Bridgman, Hungarian National Ballet’s Oliver Toth, Staatsoper Berlin’s Jacqui Stratton-Smith, Australian Dance Theatre’s Aidan Munn and Sydney Dance Company’s Shane Placentino. Other classical ballet faculty members include Susan Taylor, Helen Cooper and Catherine Wells. Madeleine Mills, an alumna of ED5 International, instructs jazz, hip-hop, tap and Pilates.
Dancers should make an appointment to audition. For more information, visit www.terrysimpsonstudios.com.au.
