Perth Spring Syllabus Intensive – Entries Now Open!
The Royal Academy of Dance invites you to participate in a series of intensive examination classes, from 26-30 September, aimed at preparing students for RAD exams. Students are invited to participate in a series of ballet classes, led by experienced RAD examiners Helen Cooper and Alinta McRae who are experts in the RAD syllabus.
Helen Cooper undertook her classical ballet training in Sydney, before beginning her performance career as a youth artist with Ballet d’Action. A serious injury meant taking a break from dancing for a number of years – but led to her undertaking her teaching certification in Classical Ballet with the Royal Academy of Dance, and becoming an RAD Registered Teacher. In 2007 she returned to dancing and joined Ballet 5:8 in the United States as a Company Artist where she danced Soloist and Principal roles in the company’s original repertoire. In 2011, Helen opened Simply Ballet – a ballet school specifically designed for adults. The school was a success and now incorporates classes for all ages from 3 to 103! In 2015 Helen was privileged to be appointed as an Examiner of the Royal Academy of Dance, allowing her to teach and examine around the world.
Alinta started her training in Perth and then commenced her full-time training with the Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy in Sydney. She completed her RAD Advanced 2 Examination with Distinction and was awarded her RAD Solo Seal. Alinta also performed with the Sydney Youth Ballet Company and toured overseas, where she was offered scholarships to prestigious schools in Hamburg and Stuttgart. Alinta accepted a scholarship from the John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart, Germany, and graduated with an Advanced Diploma of Dance. After graduating, Alinta was offered a voluntary contract with the Stuttgart Ballet and a pre-professional year with the Queensland Ballet. Alinta attained distinctions for her RAD Student Teacher’s and RAD Registered Teacher’s certificates and has entered students into RAD Examinations for over 23 years. Alinta is a RAD Mentor for teachers completing their Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) and an Examiner of the Royal Academy of Dance.
Classes focus on coaching the syllabus and are a great way to prepare before RAD exams, to keep up fitness during the school holidays, and to further refine ballet technique. Don’t miss this great opportunity to receive expert tuition from an experienced RAD examiner and improve your ballet skills.
It’s ideal for students attending the course to have a sound knowledge of the syllabus and their chosen dances/variations, however this is not a pre-requisite. Students are welcome to attend as long as they can copy/follow along with the other students and don’t expect to be taught the syllabus – the courses are for coaching.
Classes are available from Grade 1 to Advanced 2. Each class is limited to only 25 students so be quick, register now! Cost from $105 to $190. Refunds are not possible for change-of-mind.
