Patrick Studios Australia plans auditions

Patrick Studios Australia, one of the most
 recognised performing arts institutions in Australia, will hold auditions beginning next month for various courses. Courses include Full Time Performing Arts, Full Time Musical Theatre and, for the second year, The Academy – a High School of Performing Arts.

Based in Port Melbourne, Victoria, Patrick Studios Australia is currently in its ninth year and is under the direction of Todd Patrick. Alumni include Samantha Dodemaide (winner of the Rob Guest Endowment Award 2013 and performer in The Producers, A Chorus Line, Anything Goes, Wicked and King Kong), Emma Clark (performer in The Producers, Rock of Ages, CATS and The Addams Family) and Melanie Hawkins (performer in Strictly Ballroom, Rock of Ages, Wicked, King Kong and Into the Woods), among many others.

The Full Time Performing Arts Course caters to dancers seeking a career in the industry, offering training in all styles of dance including jazz, ballet, contemporary, musical theatre, lyrical, tap and acrobatics, as well as group vocal lessons. Auditions for this Performing Arts Course will be held on Saturday, September 6.

The other full time course – the Full Time Musical Theatre Course – is directed by one of Australia’s leading musical theatre choreographers, Andrew Hallsworth. It builds on the school’s strong dance reputation and compliments it with intense drama and vocal training. This unique course aims at preparing students for a successful career in the entertainment industry. Musical Theatre Course auditions will be held during October.

In 2015, the Patrick Studios Academy will celebrate its second year. This program seeks to provide high-school aged students the support and training needed to inspire and stimulate their educational experience. The educational framework provides knowledge, skills and training in a broad range of subjects with the intent of producing well rounded, highly developed individuals. Academy auditions will be held during November.

Patrick Studios’ students are offered a unique creative environment that supports and promotes their talents. Students can expect to receive intense training from some of Australia’s most outstanding industry practitioners. Teachers include Todd Patrick, Andrew Hallsworth, Amanda Stone, David Wisken, Kim Adam, Michael Ralph, Glenda Lindscott and Yvette Lee.
