National College of Dance Full Time Audition
The National College of Dance, situated in Lambton, Newcastle, will hold an audition for entry to the school’s full time dance courses on Friday, September 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The audition will commence with an open ballet class involving pointe work followed by an open contemporary class. Dancers will be expected to present a solo featuring established classical repertoire, as well as a contemporary work. All attendees are asked to bring their resume, a photo, ballet shoes and attire, contemporary clothing, and food and drink.
The tryout will be for entry to a full time dance course, including a Certificate IV in Dance or a Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance). The National College of Dance provides nationally accredited training led by Artistic Director Brett Morgan, with past students going on to compete in the Prix de Lausanne and McDonald’s Sydney Eisteddfod.
In addition to the one-year, full time Certificate IV and Diploma of Dance courses, the National College of Dance will now offer an Intensive Training Program for students in Year 9 and 10. Dancers who wish to continue their educational studies but also complete intensive dance training part time are invited to apply.
Classes are led by professional dancers and experienced teachers. Subjects include classical and contemporary dance as well as jazz, musical theatre, choreography, partnering, acting and music. Classes are also offered in body conditioning (including anatomy and nutrition) and career planning.
