Moulin Rouge auditioning Australian dancers
The Moulin Rouge, a world-famous cabaret in Paris, France, has been hosting dance performances for over a century. In July, they’ll be auditioning for dancers throughout Australia. Auditions will be held in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Perth and Melbourne. Select dancers will be chosen to join the troupe in Paris.
An internationally renowned theatre, The Moulin Rouge was co-founded in 1889 by Charles Zidler and Joseph Oller. Known for the red windmill on its roof, the theatre is legendary due to the numerous films made about it (including Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 Moulin Rouge with Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman.)
The cabaret is historically known for originating the can-can dance and today is known for it’s resident stage show, Féerie. Féerie entails a troupe of 80 artists (including 60 Doriss Girls recruited world-wide), 1,000 costumes made of feathers, sumptuous sets in shimmering colours, outstanding international acts and original music recorded by 80 musicians and 60 chorus singers.
Dancers looking to audition in Australia are expected to have professional dance training with a good classical base and advanced modern and jazz technique. Female dancers must be, at least, 175cm tall. Male dancers must be, at least, 185cm tall. To register, head to www.moulinrouge.fr. See audition dates below.
