Little Dreamers hosts Danceathon in VIC
Calling all Melbourne dancers who like giving back to their community! This weekend, an organisation called Little Dreamers is hosting a special event called “Dancing for a Dream” featuring 24 hours of back-to-back dance classes!
By coming out to Dance Dynamics in Richmond and simply taking one or as many continual classes as you like, you can help this organisation raise funds toward their mission – to support young carers in the community, or those who have a brother, sister or parent with a serious illness or disability.
Explaining the organisation’s mission, Founder Madeleine Buchner said, “I founded Little Dreamers six years ago as an organisation that supports young carers in the community through Dream Experiences – one off opportunities for these young people to do something they have always wanted to do but never been able to organise or afford.”
“Dancing for a Dream” invites dancers of all ages to come take a class (or many classes!) in styles including contemporary, ballet, ballroom, belly dancing, Bollywood, Beyoncé and Kpop. For those who are interested in participating but want something more mainstream and less advanced or technically proficient, Zumba will also be offered. There will even be classes specific for children!
With a team of over 19 outstanding dance teachers all volunteering their time, there will be something for everyone on tap. And when you’re exhausted from all the dancing, Buchner notes that there will be “nourishment and refreshments” available.
“This is going to be an amazing 24 hours where together we can all dance to raise important funds to provide the necessary support for young carers,” concludes Buchner.
Running from 5 p.m. this Saturday, May 30, through to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, this unique dance event is something not to be missed! Registration is $30. Head to www.mycause.com.au/events/dancingforadream to register now.
