Creative Caring Offers 3 Free Dance Events for Seniors this Autumn
Creative Caring will be offering 3 free senior dance classes this autumn. Creative Caring dance programs benefit the community and increase physical and mental health through inclusive social engagement and creative explorations. Programs are designed to support, challenge, and enhance the well-being of all individuals. Creative Caring’s programs are underpinned by a philosophy that movement is a primary expressive language. Through curated community programs, they build on a sense of belonging through socially engaged arts practices.
The first event will take place on March 7 from 9:30 am-12:30 pm when Creative Caring and Lendlease invite all seniors living in the Cumberland to a creative dance session tailored to all fitness levels. You can discover the art of tap, contemporary, and disco dance. Tap begins at 10 am, Contemporary at 11 am, and Disco at 11:30 am. This class is ideal for beginners and experts – men and women. Come along and meet new people and enjoy a day of dance, or just watch! A free morning tea and light lunch will be provided. The class will take place at the Hub Community Centre. Bookings are essential, as space is limited. Register with Tirian by 25 February: 0427 207 863 or tirian.McManus@lendlease.com
A second opportunity to join Creative Caring will be on March 26 from 2-4 pm at Leichhardt Town Hall. Creative Caring and Inner West Council present Seniors Afternoon Dance Tea. (the Eventbrite link goes live on 23 February) Creative Caring’s Dance Tea is an open invitation to a free dance class facilitated by Creative Caring Founder Diane Busuttil, and Ryuichi Fujimura followed by a bit of guided social dancing to live music. This event includes light snacks and tea, and there will be live musicians motivating our moves! Definitely a recipe for fun, fun, fun! This event caters to those with chronic movement restrictions.
The final opportunity to join Creative Caring will be on April 1 when Creative Caring and Woollahra Council present “Dance by the Sea”. The first session is a soft, flowing movement class with a focus on stretching, opening the body, using creativity and flow as the driving force for movement. It will be a gentle introduction to the day and will complement the second session nicely. The second session is a contemporary dance class articulating all body parts, utilizing coordination, stamina, and balance, however, the key ingredient will be fun!
