Broadway Dance Center returns to Australia
Broadway Dance Center is bringing New York City dance to Australian shores once again in March.
Bonnie Erickson, BDC’s Director of Educational Programming, and Jim Cooney, Elite Choreography and BDC faculty, will be running 2-hour workshops with a 30-minute question and answer session for Australian students. The workshops will be offered in two levels, Beginner/Intermediate dancers (age 10 or older) and Advanced/Professional dancers (age 16 or older).
This is an opportunity for all Aussie dancers to experience the heart of dance direct from New York City, in all it’s glory, right here at home. Local dancers no longer have to take a 20-hour flight to take classes with BDC faculty. They can now do it right in their own city!
Also, BDC will award select dancers scholarships to the school’s ISVP (International Student Visa Program). Plus, some great merchandise will be available to purchase.
After already visiting Perth, the next BDC classes will be taught this Friday, March 1 in Melbourne. The advanced/professional class will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and the beginner/intermediate class from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Both classes will be held at Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance, located at 64 Sutton Street, North Melbourne, VIC 3051.
Also in Melbourne, BDC will teach an open workshop for all levels (age 10 or older) at The Space on Saturday, March 2. The class will run from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Space is located at 318 Chapel Street, Prahran, VIC 3181.

The Sydney beginner/intermediate class will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the advanced/professional class from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Both classes will be held at The Village Performing Arts Centre, located at Unit 4/85-91 O’Riordan Street, Alexandria, NSW 2015.
On Monday, March 4 beginning at 5 p.m., Sydney Dance Company will host a Dance Educator Wine and Cheese reception, a meet and greet open to all industry. This provides dancers the chance to meet and connect with the wonderful dance teachers and studio owners of Sydney while enjoying wine, cheese, BDC swag bags and good fellowshipping. The event will be held at The Wharf’s Pier 4, located at Hickson Road, Walsh Bay, NSW 2000. For more information, call (02) 9221 4811.
