Conference Programme Announced: RAD’s Shaping Bodies, Shaping Minds

The programme for the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Australia’s 2020 conference Shaping Bodies, Shaping Minds has been announced! The conference will be held at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School (VCASS) in Melbourne, Australia from 18-19 January 2020, with an opening night cocktail party held on 17 January at the nearby Malthouse Theatre.

Shaping Bodies, Shaping Minds is a key event in a global series of celebrations throughout the RAD’s centenary year in 2020.

The programme features international perspectives on pedagogy, the role of dance in the lives of the individual and communities, dance across ages and abilities, insights into health, wellbeing and empowering dancers, and incorporates presentations, practical demonstrations and workshops across a range of subjects.

David McAllister AM Artistic Director of The Australian Ballet and Vice President of the RAD will deliver the opening keynote address with the RAD’s own Director of Education Dr Michelle Groves following up with closing keynote address. RAD Artistic Director Gerard Charles will also take part with a demonstration class.
