VDF announces Kathryn McCormick & Tate McRae appearances

Victorian Dance Festival Special Guests 2017The highly anticipated Victorian Dance Festival (VDF) recently announced that U.S. and Canadian dance celebrities Kathryn McCormick and Tate McRae will be appearing at VDF 2017 this March!

Set for Melbourne Town Hall on March 17-19, VDF is Australia’s premier dance event. McCormick, known for her role in Step Up Revolution and for competing on So You Think You Can Dance, joined a star-studded roster of Australian dance teachers and choreographers at last year’s sold-out event in Warrnambool. Now the event has relocated to the heart of Melbourne and is on schedule to sell out once again.

SYTYCD All Star partnerAfter their experience with her last year, dancers have been begging for McCormick to return. With the support of generous sponsors Energetiks Dancewear and Dance Informa, VDF has arranged for this to become a reality. McCormick will teach four classes, all of which will be assisted by her amazing SYTYCD: Next Generation partner – the young and stunning Tate McCrae!

The prize-winning McCrae, who has a following of over 362,000 on Instagram, will perform at the VDF Gala Showcase as well.

McRae told Dance Informa, “It will be so cool to see what dance is like in Australia. I cannot wait to meet people and of course see Kathryn again! Kathryn is one of the most amazing and inspirational people I know. She is so sincere and will help every dancer believe in themselves and live in the moment. She is one of a kind!”

VDF Director Kate Meade stated, “The announcement of Kathryn McCormick for 2017 has been incredibly exciting for the Australian dance community and the VDF team. To have an artist of Kathryn’s calibre instructing at the festival is a huge honour. We can learn a lot from Kathryn, and it’s not just her dancing either. She is a very humble artist that proved generous with her time and her heart. She is the perfect fit for the Victorian Dance Festival.”
