Apply to be a 2017 Dancehouse Housemate

2017 Housemate Residency programDancehouse, Australia’s premier centre for contemporary dance located in Carlton North, VIC, has announced that applications are open through July 7 for its 2017 Housemate Residency program. Professional choreographers living and working in Australia are invited to apply.

As Dancehouse’s artist-in-residence commissioning program, Housemate supports “rigorous discourse, research and wide-ranging experimentation in the field of choreography.” It’s all about accompanying individual dance artists through their creative process – “from vision to realisation.”

The residency offers an independent choreographer up to 300 hours of in-kind studio space; a commissioning fee; production budget and support; free access to Dancehouse’s training and development programs and other outreach opportunities; and capacity-building skills and office facilities. Even though project-oriented, Dancehouse is interested in an artist’s more global pathway, thus acting as “a career facilitator and an available tool with which to invent new connections between artistic work, professional networks and wider audiences.”

To apply, download and complete the application form and production budget template at www.dancehouse.com.au. Send completed materials to Jessica at program@dancehouse.com.au.
