Queensland Ballet holds full time auditions

Queensland Ballet offers full time dance coursesQueensland Ballet, located in the inner-city suburb of West End in southern Brisbane, will be holding multiple auditions beginning in late August for entry to its two full time dance courses, the Pre-Professional Program and the Senior Program. The first auditions are on Sunday, August 24 in Brisbane. Auditions will come to Sydney and Melbourne in September.

Dancehouse offers Housemate Residency ProgramDancehouse’s 2015 Housemate Performance and 2014 Housemate Research programs are now open to Expressions of Interest, which are to be submitted no later than July 27. The Housemate Residency Program is a unique initiative offering dance makers financial support, in-kind space (up to 14 weeks) and production and marketing support in a nurturing environment.

Ettingshausens Full Time Dance Auditions for 2015 ProgramsEttingshausens, a centre offering dance and theatre, martial arts and career training in Kirrawee, New South Wales, invites aspiring dancers to come and see why its full time dance program is renowned across Australia. It will host an Open Day on Sunday, August 3 at its studios for interested dancers to experience the life of a full time student. Following Open Day, the centre will host its full time dance audition on Saturday, September 6.

Sydney Eisteddfod Robert & Elizabeth Albert Junior Classical Ballet ScholarshipThe Sydney Eisteddfod Robert & Elizabeth Albert Junior Classical Ballet Scholarship is always a stellar event and this year was no exception with 92 entrants from all over Australia. Adjudicators Annaliesa Kreutz and Adam Blanch were amazed by the high standard of the competition and found choosing eight finalists very difficult. After a qualifying heat and semi-final master class, the chosen finalists progressed into the final round. Naomi Sano, who studies with Jasmin Bobyk at The Sydney Ballet School, emerged triumphant.

 Playhouse, QPAC beginning Friday, July 18. Weir’s latest work, The Red Shoes, is based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale and the Oscar Award-winning 1948 film.

Sydney Dance Company’s Fiona JoppSydney Dance Company (SDC) will present an exclusive Sydney season featuring world premiere works from renowned Lyon-based Greek choreographer Andonis Foniadakis, in his Australian debut, alongside a new piece from SDC Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela. Louder Than Words will showcase the ideas and unique movement vocabulary of two modern masters, who share the bill for the first time, for a two-week season at Sydney Theatre, from October 4 to 18.

The Australian Ballet's Imogen ChapmanSix dancers from The Australian Ballet experiment with colours and elements including light, paint, powder, fabric, water and technology in a unique video series that was recently released to highlight the nominees of the Telstra Ballet Dancer Award. The nominees featured in the video series are Dimity Azoury from Queanbeyan, ACT, Imogen Chapman from Kelmscott, WA, Ingrid Gow from Randwick, NSW, Cristiano Martino from Adelaide, SA, Rina Nemoto from Tokyo, Japan and Jade Wood from Cairns, QLD.
