JCMOD holds full time course auditions
Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance (JCMOD), situated in North Melbourne, offers two full time dance courses – a Diploma in Dance (Elite Performance) and a Diploma of Musical Theatre. JCMOD will hold an audition on Sunday, August 31 for entry to its 2015 Diploma of Musical Theatre course. One week later, on Sunday, September 7, JCMOD will hold an audition for entry to its 2015 Diploma in Dance course.
Ausdance SA appoints new Director
The Ausdance SA Board has announced that Simon McMahon has been appointed as the new Director of Ausdance SA. McMahon has over 10 years’ experience in management and leadership roles within the not-for-profit sector in South Australia. He will commence as Director on Tuesday, July 29.
PW releases micro-classic pro tights
PW Dance & Sportswear (PW) has announced an addition to its already extensive range of quality apparel. The new micro-classic pro ballet tights have been designed with the professional dancer in mind and are now available throughout Australia and New Zealand.
ED5INTERNATIONAL plans full time auditions
ED5INTERNATIONAL, an arts training centre based in North Strathfield, Sydney, offers a full time course for performers to earn a Diploma in Performing Arts. Through the program, participants can expand the breadth of their skills, deepen their technique and build upon their performance qualities. ED5INTERNATIONAL will hold auditions for entry to the 2015 course over the next two months.
RNZB presents bright new ballets this winter
It’s less than a week until the premiere of Royal New Zealand Ballet’s new programme Allegro: Five Short Ballets on July 30 at the Aotea Centre in Auckland. The programme will present three New Zealand premieres plus a world premiere as it tours from Auckland to Hamilton, Napier, Palmerston, Wellington, Invercargill and Dunedin. In addition, Allegro will include Principal Guest Artist Gillian Murphy’s final performances with the company before she leaves New Zealand.
Queensland Ballet holds full time auditions
Queensland Ballet, located in the inner-city suburb of West End in southern Brisbane, will be holding multiple auditions beginning in late August for entry to its two full time dance courses, the Pre-Professional Program and the Senior Program. The first auditions are on Sunday, August 24 in Brisbane. Auditions will come to Sydney and Melbourne in September.
Dancehouse offers Housemate Program
Dancehouse’s 2015 Housemate Performance and 2014 Housemate Research programs are now open to Expressions of Interest, which are to be submitted no later than July 27. The Housemate Residency Program is a unique initiative offering dance makers financial support, in-kind space (up to 14 weeks) and production and marketing support in a nurturing environment.
Ettingshausens hosts open day, then audition
Ettingshausens, a centre offering dance and theatre, martial arts and career training in Kirrawee, New South Wales, invites aspiring dancers to come and see why its full time dance program is renowned across Australia. It will host an Open Day on Sunday, August 3 at its studios for interested dancers to experience the life of a full time student. Following Open Day, the centre will host its full time dance audition on Saturday, September 6.
Naomi Sano wins major ballet scholarship
The Sydney Eisteddfod Robert & Elizabeth Albert Junior Classical Ballet Scholarship is always a stellar event and this year was no exception with 92 entrants from all over Australia. Adjudicators Annaliesa Kreutz and Adam Blanch were amazed by the high standard of the competition and found choosing eight finalists very difficult. After a qualifying heat and semi-final master class, the chosen finalists progressed into the final round. Naomi Sano, who studies with Jasmin Bobyk at The Sydney Ballet School, emerged triumphant.
Brent Street holds full time auditions
Dance training centre Brent Street, situated within the Entertainment Quarter at Fox Studios in Moore Park, Sydney, will hold auditions for entry to the studio’s 2015 full time dance courses. Auditions for the programs will be held in Sydney on July 27, August 10 and August 31.
