An Officer & a Gentleman Cast Announced
Producers John Frost and Sharleen Cooper Cohen have announced principal cast members for their upcoming production of the new musical An Officer and a Gentleman. The talented cast will be led by Ben Mingay, currently starring as Tommy DeVito in Jersey Boys, and Amanda Harrison, star of the blockbuster musical Wicked. Based on the hugely successful Academy Award-winning film, this new production has been adapted for the stage by the original screen writer, Douglas Day Stewart and co-writer Sharleen Cooper Cohen, with music and lyrics by Kenny Hirsch and Robin Lerner.
Jersey Boys the Broadway hit, which opened September, 2010 at Sydney’s Theatre Royal will be one of the longest running musicals in the history of the venue, breaking the Theatre Royal’s weekly Box Office records as the highest grossing in the theatre’s history. Since opening in Melbourne in July 2009 over one million people have seen the show in both Melbourne and Sydney. The Sydney season will close on Sunday 18 December 2011 with Jersey Boys heading to New Zealand.
Project Y is set to present Gallery, the youth company’s 4th production of 2011 and it’s first installation event. 86 performers, 10 choreographers and a venue like Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance bring this new work to Melbourne audiences. Looking through the glass you see the gallery come to life, each new scene jumps out and will capture you imagination. October 2-4.
