This Australia Day people from across the globe will become the nation’s newest citizens. The Australia Day Council of NSW wants Sydney’s huge dance community to join them in Sydney's Biggest Backyard to Say G'day to the newly-minted Aussies in a true-blue way.
Musical theatre is booming in Australia with more shows featuring children than ever before. Teacher of Audition Technique, Queenie van de Zandt is running a one-week intensive Audition Bootcamp in Sydney, to help children aged 7-15 stand out at musical theatre auditions.

Queen Street Studio are putting the call out for performing artists to apply for their 2012 Performing Arts Residency Program which will provide ten successful applications with up to three weeks of free rehearsal or development space. The residency program aims to support artistic and professional development through a diversity of performance practises. It is open to both emerging and established professional artists (individuals or groups) from NSW.
Expressions Dance Company’s Launch Pad, an intimate in-studio season of short duets, returns to Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Art in February 2012. Launch Pad gives choreographers an opportunity to road test new ideas. The 2012 Launch Pad will feature choreographers Lisa Wilson, Claire Marshall and Gareth Belling.

Nominations have been announced for the Sydney Theatre Awards for 2011, which will be presented at a gala ceremony on Monday January 16. Leading the list of nominations with seven nominations each are Belvoir’s The Dark Room and the musical Hairspray, followed by The Libertine and The Wild Duck each with five nominations, and Baal, Gross und Klein, Mary Poppins, Neighbourhood Watch and The Seagull with four nominations each.

Presentations are invited for the 22nd Annual Meeting of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) on clinical dance medicine, dance medicine research, dance science, dance education, and general dance topics. The Annual Meeting will be held October 25-28, 2012 in Singapore, hosted by Paradigm Wellness.
The West Australian Dance Awards has honoured Ms Terri Charlesworth of Terri Charlesworth Ballet Centre at the West Australian Dance Awards. Ms Charlesworth was a highly successful Australian ballet dancer and has been recognised and acclaimed nationally and internationally for her classical ballet training methods.
For the first time ever the Melbourne Ballet Company will be holding auditions outside of Australia. Alisa Finney, Artistic Director, and Sharon Fernandez, Melbourne Ballet Company Principal dancer, will be in New York from January 1-19 taking guest classes and workshops as well as holding the audition. Contracts and Traineeships are available for highly trained classical and contemporary dancers.
