Jersey Boys the Broadway hit, which opened September, 2010 at Sydney’s Theatre Royal will be one of the longest running musicals in the history of the venue, breaking the Theatre Royal’s weekly Box Office records as the highest grossing in the theatre’s history. Since opening in Melbourne in July 2009 over one million people have seen the show in both Melbourne and Sydney. The Sydney season will close on Sunday 18 December 2011 with Jersey Boys heading to New Zealand.

Project Y is set to present Gallery, the youth company’s 4th production of 2011 and it’s first installation event. 86 performers, 10 choreographers and a venue like Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance bring this new work to Melbourne audiences. Looking through the glass you see the gallery come to life, each new scene jumps out and will capture you imagination. October 2-4.

To celebrate ten exciting years as Australia’s leading professional training institution for circus artists, NICA, the National Institute of Circus Arts, has gathered together the most exceptional circus talent from across Australia and the stages of London, Rome, New York, Moscow and Paris, for the first ever Melbourne Circus Festival from 26 September to 2 October 2011.

As Professional dancers and teachers in the United States for over a decade, Principals Kristy Tancred and Rider D Vierling are thrilled to be starting this new school. Commencing in 2012 NBT will be offering a wide range of classes for beginners, to pre-professionals and adults. Focusing on Classical Ballet, NBT will be the first school in NSW to teach the ACB Syllabus. The school will also be introducing a Full Time Dancers Course which is designed for the serious student. 

For the first time in Perth, Juan Rando Dance Academy will present world renowned international instructors Magna Gopal, Renata Pecanha and their dance partners Tze and Jorge this weekend with workshops, performances and private lessons. For all you salsa and zouk lovers, this is definitely an opportunity not to be missed.

2011 will mark the third year of Sydney Opera House’s Spring Dance – Australia’s only international, contemporary dance festival. Curated by Wendy Martin, highlights of the festival will include a world premiere from Lloyd Newson’s UK-based company DV8, the first ever Sydney performance by Alain Platel’s acclaimed les ballets C de la B from Belgium and Spain’s avant-garde flamenco artist Israel Galvan who will perform in Australia for the first time.

Mango Dance Studio is excited to announce its newly Accrediated Certificate IV in Performing Arts (Dance) in Association with the Actors College of Theatre and Television (ACTT). Auditions are this Sunday Sept 4. The course is fully government approved with TQA and VETAB. Students are able to apply for AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY. Mango Dance Studio provides high level tuition, training and performance for dancers to prepare for a career in the dance Industry using Australia’s Leading Choreographers.

Twenty-one prize-winning dance troupes will compete for a total of $28,000 in prize money in the Sydney Eisteddfod McDonald’s Dance of Champions on Sunday September 11. Now in its fourth year, this spectacular dance- off will bring together performers of all ages in styles ranging from classical ballet to world dance, contemporary, jazz and hip hop at the Science Theatre, University of New South Wales.

The Director & CEO is the public face of Ausdance Victoria. The position is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and creative arts leader to be part of a vibrant dance community.  Applications close 5pm Friday 2 September.

This year has been a big year for Brisbane and will be a landmark year for Brisbane Festival. For three weeks Brisbane will welcome international and national artists to perform across the city and provide a platform for outstanding local talent to share their success.
