The Committee for the Rob Guest Endowment, one of Australia’s most exciting scholarship programs providing financial assistance and industry support to the next generation of musical theatre stars, today announced major changes to the Endowment. The winner of the Rob Guest Endowment Award will now be awarded a $50,000 prize along with the coveted RGE Trophy, making the award the largest single Musical Theatre scholarship in Australia. Melbourne’s East End Theatre District Artist Development award will also be increased to a $10,000 cash prize. The competition will now be offered biennially with the next Endowment in 2020 boasting a total prize pool of over $75,000.

For the first time in its 67 year history, West Australian Ballet has created a Children’s Ballet specifically aimed at three to six year olds. Peter and the Wolf will be presented by AWESOME Arts Festival in Perth Cultural Centre 5, 7 – 11 October 2019.

The adult cast has been announced for the 10th Anniversary Australian Tour of Billy Elliot the Musical which opens at Sydney Lyric Theatre in October 2019 followed by seasons in Melbourne at the Regent Theatre from February 2020, Crown Theatre Perth from June 2020, QPAC’s Lyric Theatre in Brisbane from July 2020 and the Festival Theatre at Adelaide Festival Centre from September 2020.

The acclaimed film and now Broadway musical Moulin Rouge is headed to Australian and will begin it’s run at Melbourne's Regent Theatre in 2021 to which marks 20 years after the Baz Luhrmann film.

Legally Blonde, the musical will be in Melbourne November 23 to December 8th 2019 at Chapel Off Chapel produced by James Terry collective.

Sydney Eisteddfod has announced that Christian Tâtchev, Chelsea Andrejic, David McAllister AM,  Li Cunxin and Rafael Bonachela will be adjudicators for the 2019 Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship. Tickets are on sale now for Sydney Eisteddfod's Ballet Scholarship Final at Sydney Opera House on Sunday 24 August at 2:30pm.

The Sydney Eisteddfod recently announced the judges for its 2017 Ballet Scholarship competition. Hao Bin and Prudence Caldwell will adjudicate all rounds of the event with The Australian Ballet’s Artistic Director David McAllister once again joining the panel for the Final.

Tasdance is offering secondment places over a two week period starting September 9th until September 20th. Thomas E.S. Kelly will be in residence at Tasdance redeveloping his work Junjeiri Ballun - Gurul Gaureima, which premiered at The Unconformity Festival in 2018.

Western Australia’s State Ballet Company, and the oldest professional ballet company in Australia, West Australian Ballet (WAB), has reported a record-breaking year in 2018 with a 26% increase at the box office after the creation of multiple ground-breaking works.

In partnership with Chunky Move and Tasdance, City of Greater Bendigo is looking for 100 volunteer dancers of all ages to be part of a large-scale dance work to be held at the iconic Poppet Head site in Bendigo August - October 2019.
