World Premiere of Legs On The Wall’s ‘ENDLING’ at Vivid Sydney
What if you could fast-track to the end of human history? What if we have already written our final chapter? Groundbreaking physical theatre company Legs On The Wall are thrilled to announce the world premiere of ENDLING as part of Vivid Sydney 2025.
Alone in a display case, the last human being—our Endling—plays out their fate. Combining projections, sound, narration, confined aerial, and physical theatre, this solo performance is equal parts moving, thought-provoking, and, at times, deeply unsettling.
At the heart of the performance is an invitation to determine what happens to this “specimen” and, in making that choice, reflect on how we are routinely making decisions that have impacts for future generations.
ENDLING explores human history, triumph, vanity, and our capacity for self-destructive behaviours. It will provoke reflection on your own relationship with the world and our collective legacy, asking: can we truly change our fate, or are we the architects of our own extinction?
“Environmental statements have been a feature of my past and recent works, and ENDLING is a continuation of this increasingly important theme. We care little about something that is plentiful until it is suddenly scarce, and then we make decisions on how to preserve it, even at its own cost,” shares ENDLING Creator / Director Joshua Thomson.
ENDLING was commissioned for Vivid Sydney 2025 with the support of Destination NSW. Free performances take place nightly from 6 pm – 11 pm at Walumil Lawns 23 May – 14 June. Learn more here.
