Win passes to ‘Sound of Music’ in Sydney

Have you heard? The hills are alive with the sound of music! Or at least in Sydney the Capitol Theatre will be when the beloved musical The Sound of Music returns to Australia this December!

The lavish London Palladium production of The Sound of Music will commence in Sydney at the Capitol Theatre on December 13, followed by seasons at Brisbane’s Lyric Theatre from March 11, Melbourne’s Regent Theatre from May 13, and Adelaide’s Festival Theatre from August 9.

If not, here are the highlights: Maria Rainer will be played by Amy Lehpamer (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Once, The Rocky Horror Show); Captain Georg von Trapp will be played by Cameron Daddo (Legally Blonde, Big River); Baroness Schraeder will be played by Marina Prior (Mary Poppins, The Secret Garden); Mother Abbess will be played by Jacqueline Dark (Opera Australia’s Aida, Don Giovanni); Frau Schmidt will be played by Lorraine Bayly (Calendar Girls, The Sullivans); and Max Detweiler will be played by David James (Playschool, Avenue Q.) Other cast members include Stefanie Jones (Once) as Liesl and newcomer Du Toit Bredenkamp as Rolf.

“We have assembled a sensational cast to play these iconic roles,” said the producers. “Cameron Daddo will be a wonderfully strong and stern Captain, and Amy Lehpamer, already with several musical roles to her name, will leap to stardom as Maria. We’re very pleased to be working with Marina Prior again, and to bring Lorraine Bayly to musical theatre audiences. And we’re especially pleased to bring acclaimed opera star Jacqui Dark to the musical stage.”
