WA Ballet holds 'La Sylphide' Child Auditions

West Australian Ballet La Sylphide AuditionsWest Australian Ballet has an exciting opportunity for young female dancers to be involved in the upcoming season of La Sylphide at His Majesty’s Theatre, running May 18 to June 2. All applicants must register online by Monday, March 19 at 5 p.m. (AWST).

 

La Sylphide is one of the world’s oldest surviving ballets and is considered a cornerstone of the romantic ballet era. Acclaimed Bournonville repetiteur Dinna Bjørn will return to WA Ballet to re-stage this seminal work.

 

Successful candidates must be available for all rehearsals and performances as indicated on the schedule here. Auditions will be held Monday, March 26 from 5–8 pm at the West Australian Ballet Centre, located at 134 Whatley Crescent, Maylands. Each audition will take approximately 45 minutes. Candidates will be emailed their exact audition time on Tuesday, March 20.

 

All applicants must be aged between 9 and 14 years old and must be female. Due to costuming, applicants must fit all the following measurements: between 140cm – 150cm in height; between 58cm – 64cm chest measurement; and between 52cm – 58cm waist measurement. It’s crucial that they have significant ballet experience, as they must be able to pick up choreography quickly.

 

Register via Trybooking by Monday, March 19 at 5 p.m. (AWST). (Late applications will not be accepted.) The audition is free of charge. Your Trybooking ticket is your confirmation that you have registered.
