U.K. artist to lead Inclusive Dance Workshop
In collaboration with Ausdance NSW, Accessible Arts will soon present an Inclusive Approaches to Dance Movement Workshop. U.K. artist Vicky Malin is coming to Sydney and will lead the workshop at East Sydney Community Arts Centre on Thursday, June 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
According to Accessible Arts, the workshop will introduce methodologies for inclusive teaching, going through practical exercises and facilitating discussion. It will be an opportunity for attendees to reflect on their own practice and the practices of others, and confidently explore ways to open their work up to more people.
The workshop is suitable for dance educators, theatre practitioners and yoga teachers. Professionals who work with people with and without disability are welcome.
Malin originally trained in theatre and psychology and later in life became a performer and teacher with Candoco Dance Company. She’s passionate about working inclusively and is also a one-to-one life coach. She produces a variety of creative projects for all abilities, ages and experience levels of dance, as well as mentors emerging inclusive companies internationally. Malin recently graduated from Trinity Laban and Independent Dance with a Masters in Creative Practice.
