Arabian Dance of The NutcrackerThis month, Event & Village Cinemas is exclusively screening two of Marius Petipa’s ballets — La Bayadère and The Nutcracker — at 19 Event Cinemas and 7 Village Cinemas locations nationally as part of the Royal Opera House 2018-19 Live Cinema Season.

Set in India, Marius Petipa’s La Bayadère tells the story of a noble warrior betrothed to a princess but in love with a temple dancer. The famous moonlit “white act” – the Kingdom of the Shades – is a corps de ballet highlight, starring Australian dancer Steven McRae. Audiences in Australia can still catch it today, December 12.

Then the timeless classic The Nutcracker will screen next, from December 22 – 24. The magical Christmas adventure and Tchaikovsky’s ravishing score perfectly conveys the magic of Clara’s adventure with her enchanted Nutcracker.
