The Movement Org Online Dance Platform is Coming Next Month
Launching 18 September 2022, The Movement Org is changing the way society observes and participates in the art of dance. This new platform aims to take the dance industry through a technological transformation via their purpose-driven platform strategically designed to equip dancers to take control of their careers and usher in a new era of transparency and communication.
The Movement Org users can hire and source dancers and their services; learn online dance classes; and watch online dance shows all from the comfort of their own home – creating a welcoming and accepting environment for all backgrounds and experience levels. Similarly, each dancer can post and find jobs, get paid to teach and perform online, and network with other industry professionals to expand their client base.
Many industries around the world quickly adapted to the tumultuous impact of the pandemic however the dance industry, that relies heavily on physical connections and public participation, was disrupted and had its business model questioned, leaving many people jobless with no ray of hope. The birth of ‘The Movement Org,’ a B2B (business to business) and B2C (business to consumer) platform, adopts digital technology to increase online access to performance work, thus serving as a progressive and gradual pursuit towards restitution and innovation.
The Movement Org was founded by professional dancer Chris Van Doren whilst stuck on the islands of Bali during the 2020 Pandemic. Chris has worked alongside A-List celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Jason Derulo & Rita Ora. He has also performed as a regular on TV shows like The X-Factor, Australia’s Got Talent & The Masked Singer. More recently he was a cast member of Magic Mike Live Australia, having the privilege to meet and work for Channing Tatum.
Having been in this space for over 15 years, Chris knew there was a gap between the industry and talent, leaving talented dancers in the dust and clients without the talent they need to curate a stellar production. During this time, he had seen various industries prove concept time and time again while adapting to new technologies with a gig-based model, ultimately leading to unprecedented success. “Over 15 years I have never seen anyone effectively bridge this gap within the dance niche, so I decided to build one myself,” said Van Doren.
The Movement Org will consist of four main components: Marketplace, Directory, Live Stream, and Network. In the Marketplace, you can sell and purchase any products or services within the industry. Choreography, portfolio packages, dancewear or studio hire – it’s all here. The Directory is a listing of Australia’s working dancers all in the one place – you can find your next favourite teacher or get booked on your next gig. On Livestream, create events and sell tickets to your live stream shows. Embrace a new revenue for dance and start getting paid performing for your online audience members. Finally, feel connected and network with other dancers in the community. A social space within the platform just for dancers.
Currently in its ‘Phase 1’ Version 1.0 model, The Movement Org is continuing to work hard to crystallize and achieve the vision of the company. To move forward and become app- integrated, they are selling dance apparel to help raise funding to successfully reach their goal.
To further show their commitment towards the vision, ‘The Movement Org.’ will be giving away free subscriptions as incentives for anyone that purchases their dance apparel. Profits generated from the sales will be channeled towards the Version 2.0 ‘Phase 2’ of the platform, and any amounts which exceed the target goal will directly support ongoing costs and help fast track the platform’s development even further from a website, into an App – ‘Phase 3’.
