The Australian Ballet’s Oscar Livestream
Join The Australian Ballet on a journey through the dazzling highs and tragic depths of Oscar, their bold new ballet by Tony-Award winning choreographer Christopher Wheeldon, that reimagines the life of Oscar Wilde.
Wheeldon brings his signature blend of whimsy, drama and breathtaking visual storytelling to the stage once again with Oscar©, a powerful exploration of the life and writings of literary legend, Oscar Wilde. Blending the splendour of Wheelon’s visionary choreography with Jean-Marc Puissant’s dynamic sets and composer Joby Talbot’s (Wonka, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland©) sensational score, every scene will transport you into a dazzling visual world, while narration and vocal elements further enhance the immersive experience.
At the centre of the story is Oscar — witty, brilliant, and unflinchingly bold. Callum Linnane takes on the role, capturing Wilde’s complexity. Wilde’s devoted wife, Constance is steadfast and resilient. Sharni Spencer portrays her strength, showing the depth of her bond with Wilde even through trials. Wilde’s friend and romantic partner, Robbie offers compassionate support. Joseph Caley brings warmth to this role, highlighting a bond built on loyalty. Oscar’s lover and muse, Bosie is intense and unpredictable. Benjamin Garrett will capture the passion and tension of their relationship.
Streaming live from the iconic Sydney Opera House, this is your chance to experience Wilde’s story wherever you are in the world.
