Sydney Dance Company Opens Applications for 2026 Summer Youth Intensive

Sydney Dance Company, Australia’s premier contemporary dance organisation, is excited to announce applications are now open for the 2026 Summer Youth Intensive, a five-day immersive program designed for aspiring young dancers.

This January, participants will dive into contemporary dance through classes in technique, improvisation, creative development, and learning iconic Sydney Dance Company repertoire, all while dancing by the harbourside at the company’s stunning studios. The intensive encourages dancers to extend their technical abilities and explore their personal creativity in a supportive, professional environment.

The program is open to dancers aged 15–18 with intermediate to advanced training in ballet or contemporary dance. Places are limited and available by application only, with successful applicants notified via email and required to pay the program fee within one week to secure their spot.

The Summer Youth Intensive runs from Monday 12 January to Friday 16 January 2026, with sessions from 10:00am to 4:00pm daily (schedule subject to variation). It will be held at Sydney Dance Company studios, Wharf 4/5, Walsh Bay Arts Precinct, 15 Hickson Road, Dawes Point NSW 2000.

Applications close on Monday 5 January 2026, and there is no application fee. The program fee is $540 (including GST), payable only upon acceptance – a further payment link will be provided at that time.

This intensive offers a unique opportunity to train with industry professionals, build skills, and experience the vibrant energy of Sydney Dance Company’s world-class facilities. Previous participants have praised the program for its challenging yet inspiring approach, often serving as a stepping stone to further advanced training.
