Step into Voxstep’s Magical ‘Garden of Sound’
An enchanting interactive sound garden is blooming this January, and your family is invited to play, dance, and make music from thin air!
Created by award-winning Sydney company Voxstep, Garden of Sound is a breathtaking fusion of dance, storytelling, and cutting-edge technology. Follow the whimsical tale of two loyal gardeners, Dag (who thrives on chaos) and Dug (a stickler for control), as they enlist young helpers to revive their fading garden of symphonies. Kids join the “Gardeners” on stage to tend invisible trees, triggering lush symphonies, sparkling chimes, and rumbling rhythms simply by moving their bodies.
Using real-time motion capture and game-engine technology (the same tools behind your favourite video games), every jump, sway, twirl, or gentle reach creates live music that fills the air. After the show, everyone’s welcome to stay and play as the performers become facilitators. It’s pure wonder made visible and audible.
“The interaction of story, sound and action feels special and one of a kind. We’ve made it for young people, but it has a depth and joy that cuts through for all audiences.”said director Nick Atkins.
Garden of Sound makes its highly anticipated world premiere at Sydney Festival 2026, proudly presented in partnership with FORM Dance Projects.
