Museum of Brisbane holds life drawing classesThe Museum of Brisbane has launched MoB Makers: Drawing the Body, a series of life drawing classes with a twist. Facilitated by artist and designer Leigh Buchanan, each class sees dancers of all disciplines pose and share their practice as participants use the models and their stories as inspiration for sketching.

This series is inspired by Mao’s Last Dancer: The Exhibition, which opened on December 1, 2017 and runs through April 29, 2018 at the museum. This world-first exhibition is an opportunity for audiences to intimately discover the story of Li Cunxin, current artistic director of Queensland Ballet and the focus of best-selling novel and award-winning film Mao’s Last Dancer. It features never-before-seen interviews of his family and colleagues from the ballet world, original objects and documents from his personal archives, and footage of him at the height of his career.

Presented in partnership with Ausdance Queensland, the remaining Drawing the Body classes are set for 5–7 p.m. on February 9 and 23, March 2 and 16, and April 13 and 27. Each class costs $15 and is held in the Dome Lounge.
