Scimm. Dance’s Ascension Training Program 2026 Auditions Now Open

Scimm. Dance has opened registrations for Ascension Training Program 2026, a weekly contemporary extension for dancers aged 8–19. Auditions will be held Sunday, 9 November at the Australian Academy of Dance (Malvern East). The audition is free to attend.

Serious training, supportive culture, Scimm.’s contemporary style is designed to complement your home-studio schedule. The program runs on Fridays, 5:00-8:00 PM during school terms at Melbourne Dance Centre, 75 Weston St, Brunswick (TBC).

Dancers build contemporary technique with Artistic Directors Scott Pokorny and Tim Barnes, supported by classical ballet, conditioning, pilates jazz, musical theatre and lyrical round out versatility. 2026 faculty includes Ashtyn Gloury, Bailey Glen, Courtney Livock, Daisy-Boo Allen, Dario Zanini-Sassani, Greta Stewart, Issy Fox, Kalli Dikeos, Kimmi Choi, Lori Favero, Melissa Pham, Monique Piccioli, Samuel Dominic, Tara Bajan and Tawhia McMath.

“Ascension gives young dancers the space to level up by refining technique, creative range and confidence without losing touch with their home studios,” says Scott Pokorny, Artistic Director.

“We keep the bar high and the room supportive. Bring your work ethic and curiosity; we’ll meet you there” adds Tim Barnes, Artistic Director.

“Q is made from stories generously shared by the community. Our job is to move with them, literally, and let those voices hit the audience in the chest,” says Ronan Armstrong, Choreographer.

Applicants can expect multi-style classes (contemporary, ballet, lyrical, commercial/jazz) plus a short guided improvisation on Audition Day. The team will assess foundations, musicality, pick-up speed, performance presence and coachability. Video submissions are available for dancers who cannot attend in person.

Scimm. Dance welcomes dancers from all backgrounds and supports access needs on request. Limited scholarships/bursaries and payment plans are available; details provided upon acceptance.
