Regional Dance Summit Brings Movement, Inspiration and Connection to Castlemaine

Dancers, educators and dance professionals from across regional Victoria will gather in Castlemaine for a full day of movement, creativity and connection at the Regional Dance Summit on Sunday 22nd March, presented by Ausdance VIC and Movement Zone as part of the Castlemaine State Festival.

The Regional Dance Summit is designed to bring Victoria’s regional dance community together for one vibrant day of workshops, classes and conversations led by leading artists from across the state. Held from 8:15 am to 4:00 pm at Movement Zone Studios and Castlemaine Theatre Co in Castlemaine, the event celebrates participation, professional development and creative exchange across all ages and stages of dance practice.

The Summit welcomes young dancers looking to build skills and confidence; adults returning to dance or exploring it for the first time; and teachers and studio owners seeking fresh ideas, professional learning and connection.

Through a tailored and inclusive program, participants will have the opportunity to learn from experienced practitioners, connect with peers, and experience the energy of being part of a wider regional dance network.

Ausdance VIC says the Summit is about strengthening regional pathways and celebrating the depth of talent across Victoria.

“The Regional Dance Summit is an opportunity to bring our regional dance community together in one place — to move, learn, share ideas and celebrate dance,” Managing Director, Katy Mckeown said. “It’s about connection, creative growth and building a strong future for dance in regional Victoria.”

The event forms part of the broader Castlemaine State Festival program, highlighting the important role dance plays within the region’s cultural landscape.
