Queensland Ballet Offers Community Dance Camps Next Month

Queensland Ballet Offers Community Dance Camps Next Month

Queensland Ballet will offer two community dance camps next month. Their two-day holiday dance camps are a great way for juniors and teens to explore their creativity through movement, learn dance repertoire and engage in fun production activities. The camps conclude with an informal viewing for the parents and carers of the students participating, which showcases the activities and dances that the students have learnt. Both camps will take place at the Thomas Dixon Centre, and children of all dance skill levels are welcome to participate.

First up is the QB Teen Dance Experience Weekend from 2-3 July for students ages 13–17-years. This weekend is filled with engaging talks, dance classes, and choreographic workshops conducted by some of the best in the creative industry. Teens will be inspired to learn new skills and make connections with like-minded individuals through the medium of dance.

Through the medium of dance and design-based thinking, teens will have the opportunity to work towards designing a future path and learn strategies to shape their destiny. Teens will have the opportunity to work with BOP Industries with a two-hour session on the basics of creating their very own YouTube channel.

Students will learn ballet, jazz and contemporary along with wellbeing, entrepreneurship and mentorship workshops that will prepare you for your next move.

The experience will run for two days over the weekend, with days starting at 9am and concluding at 3pm. Cost to attend is $255 for members and $275 for non-members. Click here to learn more.

From 9-10 July will be the QB Junior Dance Camp for students ages 6-12 years. This weekend is filled with creativity, excitement, dance classes and opportunities to learn dance repertoire. Students also proudly showcase what they’ve learned to an audience of family and friends at the end of each weekend.

These experiences are designed for children to have fun, learn new dance steps, and meet new friends. No dance experience is required to participate!

Students will dance to a collage of movement and upbeat musical melodies. They will have the opportunity to showcase their talents to uplifting music and choreography that is entertaining, creative, and fun. Cost to attend is $185 for members and $210 for non-members. Click here to learn more.
