Newcastle Ballet Theatre Provides Exciting Entrance for Full-Time Students

Newcastle Ballet Theatre summer workshop studentsEarlier in 2016, Newcastle Ballet Theatre (NBT) held a week-long summer workshop at its studios in Cardiff, New South Wales.

The four days of classical ballet training were delivered by guest master teacher Julie Wells, new NBT faculty member Jake Burden, and resident ballet faculty members Kristy Tancred, Rider D. Vierling and Meg Akerman.

The week culminated with exciting masterclasses in contemporary and contemporary partnering, led by Xanthe Geeves and Gregor Thieler.

With NBT’s full-time program commencing in 2016, the summer school provided a wonderful opportunity for incoming students to experience the style and intensity of NBT’s training.

Incoming full-time student Amelia Hayne said, “As a new student to Newcastle Ballet Theatre, the summer workshop was a fantastic introduction to the studio for me. I was able to meet teachers and other students that would be sharing the full-time program experience with me, as well as settle into the studio and help me feel comfortable on my first day of full-time. I was able to improve my technique whilst learning and having lots of fun. The perfect workshop to start the year at Newcastle Ballet Theatre.”

NBT would like to thank the beautiful students – aged 9 to 20 – who attended the workshop, as well as the fantastic teachers who made the week so successful. Look out for its next summer workshop in 2017! Stay up to date with NBT’s news here.
