Mayibuye’s Certificate III in Community Dance
Mayibuye, a grassroots organisation that uses performing arts to facilitate educational opportunities for young people, is offering a fulltime course that will allow participants to earn a Certificate III in Community Dance.
For dancers who have always wanted to use their passion for performing arts to make a difference, this Certificate III in Community Dance is a perfect fit. Mayibuye’s curriculum is designed to develop students’ performing arts skills and knowledge, and equip students with the experience and education needed for a career in community arts.
The one-year nationally accredited course starts on February 24 and has government funded places and concessions available. It will be offered at the Fairfield Campus of the North Melbourne Institute of TAFE.
Dance subjects include: jazz, ballet, hip-hop, technique, choreography, acrobatics, pas de deux, cultural dance and musical theatre. Theory subjects include: working effectively with diversity, dance theory and teaching, understanding the community arts industry, engaging young people at risk, and customary law, ethics and traditions.
As an organisation focused on igniting social change through community arts, Mayibuye offers this certificate as an opportunity for dancers to train to give back to the community. Applications for the 2014 fulltime course are now open. Visit www.mayibuye.org.au/communitydance for more information.
