Magic and circus bring family fun to Melbourne’s spring school holidays

Families looking for entertainment during Melbourne’s spring school holidays will have two opportunities to see spectacular skills, comedy and plenty of theatrical fun when The Greatest Magic Show and CIRCUS – The Show take over Spiegel Haus Melbourne from Wednesday, September 23.

Both productions are presented at 217 Lonsdale Street, with The Greatest Magic Show running for just two performances on September 23 and 24 at 10:30am, while CIRCUS – The Show continues daily at 12pm through October 4.

Following a sell-out Melbourne season in April, The Greatest Magic Show brings stars Sam and Justin back to the city with a family-friendly mix of mind-blowing illusions, comedy and audience participation. The show encourages young audiences to embrace its message that “Believe in yourself – and anything is possible.”

Every child receives a free magic wand, and some audience members may even have the chance to join the performers on stage. Designed for children aged four to 12 as well as grown-ups, the show has been described as a “Fringe Family Favourite,” with Entertainment Now calling it “THE SHOW to see!”.

For families who want to keep the spectacle going, CIRCUS – The Show follows at noon, offering a 60-minute journey featuring world-class illusions, tumbling acrobats, highly skilled jugglers and breathtaking aerialists. An endearing clown and a gigantic six-foot balloon add to the comedy, while the Ringmaster guides audiences through the show’s larger-than-life world.

The completely re-imagined family circus has enjoyed sell-out seasons around the world and received international awards, along with five-star reviews. Edinburgh Reviews called it “A FIVE-STAR experience we would absolutely watch again and again!”, while Entertainment Now described it as “A MUST-SEE at this year’s Fringe!”.

With both shows opening at the same venue on September 23, families can choose between an immersive magic experience, a circus spectacular, or make a full morning of it with both.
