Lion Heart Dance Co. premieres two works

Still Frame at Chapel off ChapelLion Heart Dance Company is preparing to unveil its latest offering at Chapel off Chapel in Melbourne on March 14 – 17. Established in 2015, the company has produced a number of local shows, including Table of Eight, Fabricated, The Scarlet Trace and ENVISION as well as the innovative Inhabit Dance Festival.

The company is seeking to create platforms for the rising company dancers to step into choreographic roles and this new work, Still Frame, features two separate works by Founder and Director Benjamin Curé and longterm company artist Debbie Keenan.

Curé’s work, Without Words, seeks to use the wonder of dance to express the many things in life that transcend our ability to encapsulate with words. The second work, Your Story, is the first major choreographic work by company artist Debbie Keenan. The piece explores the ways we quickly pass judgments on people we meet without truly knowing what has gone on in their world.

Alongside this season of work is an accompanying schools program. Offering high school aged dance students a chance to take class alongside the company artists, view the show and take part in a Q&A, the program has been incredibly well received and is inspiring the next generation of dancers.

With a mission to “create art that moves the heart” and a vision to fuel the industry with “passionate artists and purposeful work”, this dynamic company is rapidly expanding and firmly cementing it’s place as a powerful addition to the Melbourne dance scene.

Still Frame will run Thursday, March 14 till Sunday, March 17 at Chapel off Chapel, located at 12 Little Chapel Street, Prahran. Tickets cost $40 for adults and $35 for concession.
