Australian Dance Theatre (ADT) is seeking expressions of interest to join their Board as a Non-Executive Director in a volunteer capacity. 

This opportunity is part of the board succession planning and seeks to ensure ADT is well positioned to contribute to the advancement of the cultural landscape in the Australian dance sphere. 

The Board strongly encourages expressions of interest from First Nations and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse people for this exciting opportunity. 

Australian Dance Theatre is one of Australia’s leading contemporary dance companies and was established in 1965 in Adelaide by Elizabeth Cameron Dalman OAM with the founding aspiration of ‘expanding the boundaries of dance’; this still holds true today. Under the Artistic leadership of Wiradjuri man, Daniel Riley, the Company remains committed to being a dance company of and for South Australia, and to perform on stages around Australia and the world.

The Company is currently in one of the most significant and transformative periods in its nearly 60-year history. The Company is based at The Odeon in Norwood. It is led by Executive Director Nick Hays and Artistic Director Daniel Riley, both of whom report to the Board.

ADT is looking for: Candidates who have positively contributed to the advancement of the cultural landscape in the arts, dance or other creative sectors; People who strongly believe in the importance of the Arts in our society, and who believe they can help Australian Dance Theatre continue to succeed; and people of all ages, abilities, religious and linguistic backgrounds and identities, genders, sexes and sexual orientation.

Board appointments are for a three-year term. Candidates must be prepared to attend six board meetings and up to six sub-committee meetings per year, as well actively engage, attend and support activities and events throughout the year. Finally, Board members will be appointed subject to obtaining approval with the South Australian Liquor and Gambling Commissioner and a Working with Children check.
