James Batchelor to premiere ‘REDSHIFT’

James Batchelor at Chunky Move studiosLater this month, James Batchelor, an award-winning performer and choreographer from Canberra, will present REDSHIFT at the Chunky Move studios in Melbourne.

In cosmology, the term “redshift” is used in a way of describing our relative distance to an object in space. Batchelor’s REDSHIFT will propose a universal perspective and will seek to extend our attention beyond the immediate source of the body to cosmological shifts in space and time.

The program description reads, “REDSHIFT is science as performance, conducted in movement. With this work, James Batchelor wants to inspire curiosity and invites you to think about dance as a conversation, a collaboration and exchange with other discipline and communities.”

REDSHIFT is your opportunity to discover James Batchelor’s magnetic movement style and experience his refined practice at the intersection of dance and visual arts,” it continues.

Performances run November 23 – December 2. Book tickets through Chunky Move at www.eventbrite.com.au.
