HotHouse & Chunky Move present workshops
All Saints’ College’s arts initiative, The HotHouse Company, is partnering with Chunky Move, a contemporary dance company based in Melbourne, on a residency program in 2018. Chunky Move’s multi-tiered programming initiatives seek to nurture and underpin a strong and vibrant dance culture in Australia, and create critically acclaimed and popular productions of scale for presentations nationally and internationally.
This month, Chunky Move and HotHouse will present two workshops specifically for dance students and teachers.
The first is the Teacher Countertechnique & Choreographic Processes Workshop on Wednesday, March 7 from 1-5 p.m. This four-hour professional development opportunity for arts teachers will be led by Chunky Move’s Niharika Senapati. It will offer teachers the chance to experience Countertechnique through practical exercises, as well as sharing the theoretical information and language of Countertechnique. The workshop will then migrate to exploring different ways to engage in the process through improvisation and choreographic tasks.
The second is the Student Countertechnique Workshop on Saturday, March 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This will be led by Senapati as well and will work through a series of sessions designed to give students an insight into Chunky Moves’ Countertechnique. Students must be aged 16+. Note that there is a maximum of 20 participants in this workshop.
Both workshops will take place at All Saints’ College’s Dance Studio, located at Ewing Avenue, Bull Creek, WA. The cost is $100 per participant for each workshop. All Saints’ College’s current and former students can enjoy a discounted price of $50 for the Student Workshop.
