‘Frozen’ coming to Australia in 2020

Australian Frozen ShowDisney’s musical version of the smash-hit 2013 animated film Frozen will have its Australian premiere next year. The Broadway musical will open at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre in July 2020.

Based on a reworking of The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen, the film became an instant hit with its heartwarming story of two sisters and its catchy score by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Featuring the viral song “Let it Go”, the musical used the original score, just adding in new numbers for the stage. Choreographer Rob Ashford set the movement.

The Australian show will be the musical’s first international production. It continues to run on Broadway and is continually among the 10 best-selling shows. It opened in New York last March and went on to bypass four records for St. James Theatre.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said, “Frozen is one of the most highly acclaimed and sought after musicals currently in production. It is a global cultural sensation, and we are thrilled to have secured the musical adaptation for Sydney.”
