DRILL Performances Bids Farewell to Julie Waddington

After a successful tenure at DRILL Performance Company as Executive Producer, Julie Waddington will be stepping down from the role at the end of 2024. The DRILL board expressed their thanks to Julie and acknowledged how her significant artistic and management skills had made a difference at DRILL.

Julie reflects on her time as EP of DRILL.

“I am extremely grateful to have been in the role of Executive Producer of DRILL in 2024. To work alongside AD Bec Dundas as a cultural steward of the company and its young people has been a privilege that I will always treasure. Working in youth arts has been at the heart of my career and a part of the sector that I am incredibly passionate about and committed too. DRILL is an amazing company, creating pivotal opportunities for young people to grow as humans and artists through collaborative creative practice with inspiring professional artists.

Stepping away from DRILL has been a really hard decision but it is time for me to spend more time with my family and on my own creative practice. Bec and I dreamed big for the future of DRILL and its company members and while I am sad that we won’t be the ones leading these projects in 2025 I know that the board will ensure the company is in good hands for the next chapter and I will be cheering on DRILL’s incredible young people from the audience at every opportunity.”

The Board thanked Julie and acknowledged Julie’s contribution as EP to DRILL.

“Thank you for your service as Executive Producer to DRILL Performance in 2024. We wanted to take a moment to thank you for your hard work, dedication and contributions during your time with us at DRILL. The commitment and energy you’ve brought to your role have been valued, and we genuinely appreciate all that you’ve done and achieved.

Once again, thank you for the time and effort you’ve invested in DRILL. We wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavours and hope our paths may cross again some day.”

Following the presentation of First Sketch at Mathers Lane on 14th December, Julie will finish her role with the company at the end of the year and spend some well-earned summertime with her family.

While in the midst of recruiting a new Artistic Director to lead this wonderful nipaluna/Hobart based company, DRILL will now commence seeking a person to fill their producer/management role and to be part of a new ‘dynamic duo’ leading DRILL in 2025.
