Dance Makers Collective Premieres “All In” at Sydney Festival
Dance exists on stages, at weddings, in clubs and at cultural gatherings. Why is it so universal? What are the boundaries between ballet and backyard parties? Can dance build bridges and ignite collective joy? Award-winning contemporary dance company Dance Makers Collective (The Rivoli, Sydney Festival 2020) tackles these questions with artists from a cross-section of styles and communities, celebrating movement as a unifying force, in their world premiere of All In.
All In is DMC’s largest-scale performance project ever, and engages an incredibly diverse and exciting creative team of more than 40 individual artists and creatives. Led by Miranda Wheen (Dance Makers Collective’s Co-Artistic Director and Associate Artist at Marrugeku), All In features contributions from some of Western Sydney’s finest creatives across flamenco, hip-hop, Bharatanatyam and Dharug dance – including Pepa Molina, Azzam Mohamed, Vishnu Arunasalam and Peta Strachan.
Step inside the beautifully refurbished Parramatta Town Hall and connect with dance in a variety of ways: enjoy a seat for first-class choreography, accept a gentle invitation to join in, or hit the dance floor with your own style.
All In is ultimately a celebration — a gathering in an increasingly divided world. The show premieres on Wednesday 22nd January at 7:30pm at Parramatta Town Hall and has a five-show run until Saturday 25th January.
Tickets are on sale for $49 + BF. Book here.
