Bolshoi Ballet returns to Australian cinemas

Bolshoi Ballet returns to Australian cinemasFor the fifth consecutive year, The Bolshoi Ballet returns to Australian cinemas with four new productions captured live in HD from Moscow, showing in cinemas from December 13.

Regarded as one of the greatest ballet companies in the world, The Bolshoi Ballet offers a spectacular new 2014-15 season on the big screen featuring the magnificent Tchaikovsky classics like The Nutcracker and Swan Lake in time for the 175th birthday of the composer.

The new cinema season also features two new ballets, including the long-awaited return of The Legend of Love (after a 10-year absence on the Bolshoi stage) and the unique unreleased epic Ivan the Terrible, an essential masterpiece within the company’s repertoire.

Once again, audiences across Australia will be able to enjoy these outstanding performances featuring Bolshoi Principals David Hallberg and Olga Smirnova, as well as soloists and corps de ballet.

The Legend of Love will screen from December 13, with nearly three hours of choreography by Yuri Grigorovich. The Nutcracker will be shown from February 7 before Swan Lake swoops in a month later. Ivan The Terrible will screen from June 20, 2015.
