bbodance celebrates 90 years of dance excellence in Australasia

bbodance is proudly marking a significant milestone in 2026: 90 years since its official branch was established in Australia.

The organisation’s rich history in the region dates back to 1936, when its founder, Edouard Espinosa, travelled to Sydney to launch the Australian branch. What began as a single initiative has since grown into a vibrant community spanning both Australia and New Zealand, with members and supporters continuing to uphold the organisation’s core mission of providing accessible, high-quality dance education for all.

Current Branch Administrators Liz Derby and Lisa-Maree Derby have played a key role in sustaining and expanding this strong regional presence. Today, bbodance teachers and students across Australasia remain deeply connected to the organisation’s vision of fostering artistry, discipline, and opportunity in dance.

To celebrate this special anniversary, bbodance is inviting its members, teachers, students, and friends to share their personal stories, achievements, and upcoming events.
